Ancient Andean textile traditions encompassed a broad diversity of styles, images, and weaving techniques. In this tour, Dicey Taylor, Ph.D. 1983, co-curator of the exhibition Weaving and the Social World: 3,000 Years of Ancient Andean Textiles, explores the astonishing variety of textile designs—which include bold geometric schemes, images of supernatural beings, and naturalistic birds, animals, and fish—and the sophisticated weaving and decorative techniques employed by Andean societies.
