Focus Lecture on Feathered Textiles, June 22 at 12.30 pm:
Ancient Andean Feathered Textiles
Guest curator Dicey Taylor, Ph.D., will lead a discussion focused on a large Andean feathered panel in Weaving and the Social World: 3,000 Years of Ancient Andean Textiles. The site where this and other textiles were excavated, now known as Corral Redondo, is considered to be the largest discovery of feather art in the ancient Andes. This talk will explore the techniques of Andean feathering—from the birds that provided the feathers to the vividly colored designs of the textiles.
